Asthma and Acid Reflux
Asthma is a health condition where the respiratory tract becomes inflamed and sensitive Asthma will reacts to certain stimuli like cigarette smoke, animal dander, cold air, and even strong emotions. Asthmatic people feel trouble while breathing with exercise or get more chest infections than other people. Coughing is a common feature of asthma, especially in small children. Most people with asthma have periodic wheezing attacks. Generally, Asthma is found in 3-5% in adults and 7-10% in children. Roughly, every year 5,000 people die only because of asthma.
Acid reflux is also called Gastroesophageal reflux disease, commonly referred as GERD. One of the most common symptoms of acid reflux is heartburn i.e. sensation of burning in the chest or throat, difficulty in swallowing solids or liquids foods. Stomach acids back up into the esophagus because of the relaxation or slackness of the lower esophageal sphincter .Acid reflux can last several months or longer. But if you take proper treatment then don't worry about it .Surgery might be required in severe cases.
Most of the times many patients with acid reflux having problem at night time.so, many people facing problem of poor sleep. Their may be a connection between food habits & acid reflux. for e.g. after taking heavy lunch or dinner you may be facing this problem
Some home remedies for acid reflux:
- Take your dinner 4 hours before bedtime. Don't eat spicy food which may be produce acid.
- Avid drinking alcohol & smoking.
- Divide your total food into 3to 4 parts. Add fruits into your regular diet.
- With the help of warm-up exercise you feel light
Acid Reflux And Asthma
Asthmatic people feel uncomfortable while breathing.like feeling of scared ,feel burning in the chest. These high pressures may be cause by stomach acids to move up the esophagus, thus resulting in reflux symptoms. Asthmatic people may have a higher chance of acid reflux as compared to people without asthma.
