Childhood Asthma

Childhood asthma is a complex & allergic disease with multiple causes. An asthma attack is when your lungs is not getting enough air to breathe normally.The child who have problem of cough after running or crying may have asthma. Coughing is noticed especially with hidden asthma. Asthma seems to run in families so we can called it as heredity. Most of the time child asthma disturb your children in night. Up to 80% of children with asthma develop symptoms before age five. In 2004, approximately 4 million children under 18 years old have had an asthma attack. Many states give permission for responsible children to keep their inhaler in their school bag.

Many times rapid breathing, wheezing and coughing become undetected. These children with asthma usually suffer of airway obstruction. This children may suffer respiratory illness. Hidden asthma, can produce so few recognizable symptoms. Even the physician might not be able to distinguish the voice..

Cause of childhood Asthma

  • Cigarette smoke, cold air, changes in weather all this environmental causes are common in childhood asthma.
  • Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)may be a cause of asthma in children because in this condition stomach acids back up into the esophagus.
  • Persistent respiratory symptoms like wheezing, coughing is also causes in a asthma.

Symptoms of childhood Asthma

  • Abnormal voice while children is crying.
  • vomiting
  • wheezing may be present after exercise or during the night.
  • Pain in a chest.

Some tips to survive your baby from asthma

  • Every child with asthma should have a written asthma management plan.
  • Removal of pets from the home or kept them in a separate place.
  • Daily medicines will help you to get relief for short period of time.
  • Education on asthma and guidance in techniques for self-management plan should be taught by parents.
  • Teacher & school staff should have sufficient knowledge about asthma so, if any incident occur then they can manage in a proper way.
  • Exercise, yoga , pranayam & some medicine will help you to fight with asthma.
