Creatine – the body mass supplement

Creatine is a protien which is amino-acid based compound produced naturally in the human body. The body produces half the required creatine from its own amino acids and the rest is produced from the food we eat, mainly from fish and red meat. Once creatine is produced by the liver, pancreas and kidneys, it is sent to the muscle tissues through the blood. It is converted into phosphocreatine molecules, which store energy in muscular tissues. This allows the body to release large bouts of energy when the body is exerted.

You generate ATP, the cell energy spent on almost everything you do, in different ways, depending on the intensity of your chosen exercise. As long as you can take in enough oxygen to fuel the process, your body turns carbohydrates and fats into ATP. But for all-out efforts lasting a mere three to five seconds- think weight-lifting, sprinting bursts or football tackles-you can’t inhale enough oxygen to generate the amount of ATP you need. Which is where creatine comes into play.

The body synthesises about half of your daily creatine requirement. The rest comes from your diet. But, bodies not being 100 per cent efficient, you lose about 2gm of creatine a day. Which means that generating enough ATP for regular, intensive workouts is tough.

Creatine is a naturally occurring substance and key to building powerful skeletal muscle—huge biceps, defined “diamond” triceps, big pecs and more. Creatine is one of the most widely used sports supplements on the market today. Primary use is in strength and bulk-building exercises that improve performance for high-intensity sports, maximize your workouts, and give you an edge in anaerobic athletic competitions.

Creatine is not the answer for everyone or every athlete. Anabolic sports and activities gain the most benefit from creatine. But endurance exercises are unimproved. Creatine builds ATP, which gives you more bursts of intense energy–the keyword being bursts.

Sports that benefit most from creatine loading include:

•Bodybuilding
•Hockey
•Baseball
•Basketball
•Rowing
•Wrestling
•Soccer
•Football

My friend Charlie got six packs

Well, guys, I am here to narrate a story to all of you which has made me think whether it is workout which makes a person gain mass or ample of eating with lot of workout which makes the person strong.

I have a close friend who from the beginning of his adolescence has a physique which can be described by single word called “obese”. This guy named Mr. Charlie, actually sat 10 hours a day in front of idiot box (television) and surfed around; of course with lot of junk food along with.

Thanks to his neighbor whom he adored too much, he took the advice of joining a gym regularly. I was surprised to see Charlie’s determination; and yes, guys, he actually started shedding weight and gaining muscles. Within next 3 months, we didn’t actually got along. One fine day, Charlie arrived to my door step and rang the bell. I went to take up the bell; and bang, I was stunned to see the makeover. He was looking like a pro body builder with cool round muscles and cuts all around.

So during our regular beer talks, he vented out and said, “I had tried stopping food and then working out, but it made me more and more frail. I took the advice of my instructor and followed a regular balanced diet, although I was supposed to loose calories. I was also instructed to take regular protein supplements along with good amount of food based proteins to gain muscle mass. And man, I am here getting your visible and vocal accolades”.

Charlie made me now believe that couch potatoes can also become wrestlers, or may be body building pros.
