  • Around 18.8 million adults suffered from depression in America.
  • Approximately 9.9 million American adults have major depressive disorder and about 5.0% American teenager suffer from depression.
  • Survey shows that nearly 6.7% female and 3.3% male go through depression.
  • 2.5% children undergo depression symptoms but not all of them get treatment.

  2. Even though percentage is higher in women but chances of reaching to suicidal stage is three times greater than women.
  3. Chance of having depression is high when men become unemployed, retired or having financial crisis.

  • In female depression rate is higher in married women as compared to single women.
  • Usually married women go through depression during pregnancy or after birth of child.

  • Out of depressed women generally 15% women reach to suicidal stage.

Depression Statistics in Youngster

Around 8.3% of youngsters of the U.S. population are affected by depression. According to survey it is clear that generally in eight teenagers one is affected from depression. If a symptoms which is shown in childhood is remain untreated then it leads to major depression in adolescent. About 70% youngsters remain untreated because symptoms are not recognized by parents. Survey shows that percentage of depression is greater in teenage girls as compared to teenage boys.
