Potentiates antidepressants
Camcolit is used for the treatment and prevention of mania and hypomania. Camcolit acts like ' stabilizer of mood ' to prevent episodes of depression and mania in the people with the bipolar emotional disorder (depression maniac). Camcolit is also used in the treatment and prevention of recurring depression when the treatment with other antidepressant is not made a success.
Side Effects of Camcolit
Mild harmful effects can be produced even when the lithium values of serum remain below 1 mmol/L. The harmful effects most frequent are the initial, supposed symptoms postabsorptive being associated with a fast rise in the lithium concentrations in serum. They include, faintness gastro-intestinal, nausea, vertigo, weakness of muscle and an astounded feeling and frequently disappear after stabilization from therapy.
The more common and more persistent unfavourable reactions are: fine tremor of the hands, and, sometimes, of tiredness, thirst, polyuria and insipidus nephrogenic of diabetes.
