Aldesleukin is a version (synthetic) synthetic of a substance called the interleukin-2. Interleukins are produced naturally by cells in the body to help the white cells of blood to function. Drug Interactions

Use of aldesleukin with drugs which share results of similar toxicity and side effects in the shared side effects which are more serious. For example, drugs which damage the heart, for example doxorubicin (Adriamycin) can worsen the toxic effects of the aldesleukin on the heart. In the same way, drugs which damage the kidneys, for example, of the aminoglycosides (Garamycin, Nebcin, Amikin) or of drugs anti-inflammatory drugs nonsteroidal such as the ibuprofene (Motrin, Advil) can worsen the toxic effects of the aldesleukin on the kidneys.

In conclusion, drugs which damage liver such as the isoniazid (INH). increase the toxic effects of the aldesleukin on the liver.

Aldesleukin stimulates the immune system. The corticosteroids, for example methylprednisolone (Medrol) and prednisone, prevent the immune system. Consequently, the aldesleukin and the corticosteroids will have effects of opposition if used together. The use of such combinations, in fact, can decrease the antitumor effect of the aldesleukin.
