Elderly Health

It's amazing how time flies, and looking back can leave you feeling old! But just because you've got several decades behind you doesn't mean you have to feel old.

  1. The good news is you are blessed with many talents. You're creative, energetic, analytical, entrepreneurial, and if you can team up with others who get a kick out of your abundant energy and enjoy doing the detail work you could be very successful. If you find a job that is endlessly stimulating and challenging, you'll be happy for life.
  2. Interact. Strike up a conversation with people you meet in the supermarket. Greet people you pass on the street, and ask them how they're doing.
  3. Optimism. Try to avoid thinking negative thoughts as it will get you no place except sadness. Remember all the wonderful years you shared, and how you both brought such wonderful children into this world.
  4. Do something different every day. Perhaps the museum or a flower show might tickle your fancy this week.
  5. Join a club, or volunteer at a library or senior center. Meet with like-minded people.
  6. Keep up with the news. By doing this, you always will be able to converse with most people.
  7. Forget the past. Don't worry about what happened in the past. Live just for today.
  8. Have an alert mind. Do crossword puzzles, learn a new language, or take up a hobby you were always too busy for.
  9. Don't waste your time thinking that you're too old to do this or that. Learn new things and do the things you never had the time to do before.
  10. Take good care of your body. Take vitamins and eat healthy.
  11. Stay flexible and sprightly by walking 20 minutes a day.
  12. Take a character trait to work on for the year. Then, next year, when you look back.. you'll feel really accomplished.

Health Tip

The presence of coarse hair on the upper lip, chin and cheek is a common problem in women. It needs to be medically investigated to rule out an underlying cause (e.g. polycystic ovarian syndrome). Excess hair can be removed by various methods that include shaving, tweezing, waxing, chemical depilation and electrolysis.
