Condyloma acuminata are soft, skin colored, fleshy warts that are caused by the HPV (human papilloma virus).

Condyloma acuminata is another name for venereal wart or genital wart. Genital warts will appear any time from a few months to many years after contracting a genital wart strain of HPV and many people that contract HPV clear the virus before every having symptoms. Warts can be treated by immune system enhancers, by surgical removal, or acid cream treatment. Condyloma acuminata is another name for venereal wart or genital wart.

Symptoms of Condyloma acuminata

Warts may be located directly on the penis, anal, or vulvar areas. They are commonly a raised fleshy bump which can be removed either surgically or via freezing (cryotherapy).

The Human Papillomavirus (HPV) is made up of 80-100 strains. Of these, about 20-25 strains cause genital warts in men and women.

Causes of Condyloma acuminata

Human papillomaviruses. These are circular double-stranded DNA molecules. There are over 70 HPV subtypes. The cause of common venereal warts are types 6 and 11. Cervical dysplasia and carcinoma in situ are likely caused by types 16, 18, 31, 33, and 35.
