How to Clean Rusty Skillet?

Rust is the substance with reddish color formed in the presence of water and oxygen. It is mixture of iron oxides and hydroxides.

How to clean a rusty skillet

  • Scrub the whole skillet vigorously.
  • When all the rust has been removed, wash the skillet well with soap and water with several changes.
  • Dry it in the hot oven for 20 minutes and cool it completely.
  • After cooking skillet is still hot, put boiling water on the skillet.
  • Rinse the skillet and put a bit of cleanser on it and scrub with the potato.
  • Cover the rusty area with a paste of baking soda and water, keep it for overnight and then wash.
  • A mixture of little salt and vinegar will clean the copper bottom skillet.
  • Don't use harsh abrasives on the skillet.
  • Don't put skillet in the dishwasher.
  • After cooking scrape out the skillet with a wooden spoon or rubber spatula while skillet is still hot.
  • Don't put skillet in the water while still it is hot, it will crack.
