Introduction to Plucking

Plucking is hair removal process in which unliked hairs are removed by pulling hairs with the help of tweezer. Plucking is commonly done for eyebrow shaping but it is also used to remove hairs from upper lip, chin, bikini area and jaw line. Only single hair should be plucked at one time for perfection. Most of the women shape their eyebrow by plucking but now men also started plucking of their eyebrows. You can do plucking by yourself at home or in salon.

Eyebrow Plucking

Plucking of brow hairs for perfect eyebrow shape is known as eyebrow plucking. It is very popular method for eyebrow hair removal. Take a bath before eyebrow plucking so that pores will open. Apply ice or astringent before starting of plucking to numb the area. Brush the eyebrows and hold upper area of eyebrow tight. With the help of good tweezer pull hairs from bottom of the eyebrow and give perfect shape to eyebrow. Apply witch hazel by using cotton to sooth the eyebrow.

Tips for plucking

  • Always do plucking of hairs in the direction of their hair growth to reduce pain.
  • Select tweeze having sharp and pointed head for perfect grip.
  • In eyebrow plucking never pluck hairs above the eyebrow because thick regrowth of hairs will appear.
  • There are more chances of skin pulling during hair plucking so do it carefully to avoid further injuries.
  • Hold skin tight during pulling of hairs to reduce pain and discomfort.
  • Apply astringent or aloe vera gel after plucking which softens your skin and reduces redness and irritation.

Disadvantages of plucking

  1. Because of pulling of hairs pain is involved in plucking process.
  2. It also gives redness and rashes to plucked area for some time.
  3. You can not remove hairs from large area with the plucking process.
