How to heal a twisted ankle?

We all are aware of the fact that twisted ankles are very painful. It is also a well known fact that ankle injuries can occur anytime and anywhere. Thus, no matter how many measures you take, a slight error and your ankle can twist. However, healing the twisted ankle is not very hard anymore. With some easy and simple methods, you can easily recover from the twisted ankle.

Requirement of a healing process:

It is true that most of the time, ankle injuries gets cured up with time. However, many a time, the injury sustains for longer duration and requires a healing procedure. Also leaving twisted ankles in the injured state for long is not recommendable. This is the reason why healing processes for twisted ankles is preferred.

Some easy and simple processes for treatment:

Protect the injured ankle:
The first and foremost step that one must take in order to heal the twisted ankle is to protect it from any outside physical force or exertion. Any further physical force or injury on the twisted ankle can make its condition worse. Protecting it will accelerate the recovery.

Application of Ice:
Apply ice on the region that pains, or where the ankle got twisted from. This will help in reducing the swelling as well as pain. Also application of ice helps inn fast recovery of the twisted ankle.

Compress the ankle:
If you want your twisted ankle to recover fast, compress the ankle for some time. This will help in reducing the pain and will help in fast recovery. A simple crack bandage is enough to do the job.

Keep the ankle at slightly raised height:
Keeping two three pillows or cushions below the ankle will also help in reducing the pain and swelling from injured ankle. By keeping the ankle at a height, the blood circulation flows in the reverse direction, reducing the pain to a greater extent.

Note:
If the pain and swelling persist after practicing all these measures for a week or so, consult a doctor immediately.
