Cause of Knee Pain

There are several causes of knee problems. Impact injuries are often due to direct blows in contact sports like basketball. They can also be caused by falls and jumps, sudden twisting, and explosive movements such as a power lift. Knee pain usually results from overuse, poor form during physical activity, not warming up or cooling down, or inadequate stretching. Simple causes of knee pain often clear up on their own with self care. Being overweight can put you at greater risk for knee problems. If you have knee pain, some common causes include:
