Stress Echocardiogram - Picture, Result, Image and Procedure for Echocardiogram

Echocardiogram test is a form of ultrasound examination, similar to the one used to check on the foetus during pregnancy. It is used to assess the functioning of the internal structures of the heart, as well as indicating how efficiently the chambers of the heart are pumping blood around the body.

Leaking of narrowed valves and poorly contracting heart muscle can be detected in this short test, allowing a definitive diagnosis of heart failure or heart valve disease to be made. This allows appropriate medical or surgical treatment to be planned.
