A type of white blood cell. A cell, especially a white blood cell, having granules that stain readily with basic dyes.

Specimen:

3 mL whole blood in 1 Lavender Top (EDTA) tube AND 2 peripheral smears. Transfer whole blood into plastic transport container. Ship refrigerated. DO NOT FREEZE.
