B and T Lymphocyte - Absolute Count of Lymphocyte

A lymphocyte is a type of white blood cell present in the blood usually about 7 to 8 micrometers in length. Any of the nearly colorless cells found in the blood, lymph, and lymphoid tissues, constituting approximately 25 percent of white blood cells and including B cells, which function in humoral immunity, and T cells, which function in cellular immunity.

Specimen:

3 ml whole blood in 1 Lavender Top (EDTA) tube and 2 peripheral smears. Transfer whole blood into plastic transport container. Ship refrigerated. DO NOT FREEZE.

Value: 1,500-3,000/ mm3

When a person is unconcious he is at risk of the airway becoming blocked by tongue. To keep the airway ope, place the victim on his back and open the airway by tilting the head and lifting the chin.
