Foods That Ease Men's Secret Pain
KNOW YOUR ONIONS – It's not so something that men talk about around the water cooler. But expert say that more men suffer with chronic prostate pain than any other prostate problem, including the enlargement that's almost routine after retirement age. What's worse is that nobody knows what causes this nagging lower-pelvic pain known as prostatitis. So treatments range from drugs to physical therapy to surgery, often without relief. Both doctor and sufferers struggle with this one.
That's why results from a study using supplements of antioxidant quercetin are encouraging. Researchers from the Harbor-UCLA Medical Centre in California , gave 15 men with chronic prostatitis 500 mg of quercetin twice a day for one month. Two-third of the men taking quercetin had at least a 25% improvement in their chronic prostate pain, compared with only 20% of men taking a placebo.
Experts are not ready to recommend quercetin supplements until they are sure of a safe and effective dosage. In the meantime, stock up on these naturally quercetin rich foods: apple, onions, garlic, cruciferous veggies, black tea and purple grape juice.
And eat that white cord in the centre of oranges.
