- We should develop a habit of chewing all food including liquid food and soft foods like sweets, ice creams at least 8 to 12 times. This is essential to add saliva to the food, as it is only in the saliva that sugar is digested.
- After a bath or shower, pat your skin with a towel, but leave it damp. Then, massage moisturizer into your skin for a couple of minutes---don't just pat & run, so that it has time to absorb. (Keep the bathroom door closed after your bath or shower, to trap steam while you apply cream)

- If you have a blemish or breakout just before the big day, keep your hands away from your face -- the spot will heal more neatly if you leave it alone. In the case of a sudden monstrous pimple, see your dermatologist and ask for a cortisone injection that will shrink it instantly.
- Use a moisturizer that includes an SPF, especially if you are getting married outdoors! You may be getting more sun than you think you are, and you will definitely look pinker in pictures.
- Avoid anxiety and stressful conditions.
- Excessive alcohol intake can block the production of the body's antidiuretic hormone. As a result, too much drinking makes the skin dehydrated and prone to wrinkles. Alcohol also widens blood vessels and increases blood flow to the skin, which can lead to thread veins, a reddened "drinker's nose" and the skin condition rosacea, which causes a red rash or flushed complexion.
- Avoid tea or coffee, especially before meals. In minimal amounts, though, they act as a stimulant, making the body active and increasing proficiency. While preparing tea, spice it with tulsi. which is a very good herb that boosts immunity and is commonly available.
- Regular cleaning of the tongue to remove extra coatings is necessary for oral hygiene.
- Never eat food while under stress, strain or worry as it hinders the digestive process. Avoid any other simultaneous activity as this forces the heart to pump more blood, slowing down digestion and leading to various ailments including indigestion. Thus, one should avoid reading or studying while eating.
- Brush your teeth after every meal. A toothbrush with soft, rounded bristles is best. brush the teeth for at least 2 minutes.
- Floss regularly between teeth.
- There should be an interval of 4 to 5 hrs between meals, which gives time for the stomach to clear itself of the previous meal. The evening meal should be the lightest so that it is easily digested.
- If a person gets heat stoke, for relief boil 4 unripe mangoes, remove the juice, add a little salt, 2 grams cumin seeds and give this to drink. It stops vomiting. To prevent heat stroke, 500 grams of this juice should be taken twice a day. It is a preventive as well as a remedy.
- One is sometimes tempted to overeat tasty dishes. Avoid this as it distends the abdomen and leaves no space for air and water.
- Before moving out of the house drink lots of water and buttermilk.
- A very good way to become conscious of what you eat day to day is to record a food diary. This may seem like a tedious task to have to record everything you eat, but it is important if you really want to see just how much you are eating every day and where those extra kilo's are creeping up on you from.
- Daily bathing is very essential both in winters and summers; otherwise the wastes coming out of the skin are not washed and can lead to itching and other skin problems. Bathing helps in re-energizing oneself. Do not wash eyes and hair with warm water. It damages the hair roots.

- Body posture matters a lot. You should sit or stand erect so that there is sufficient space for the air to enter the lungs ensuring an optimum supply of air when the breath is drawn in.

- Sweets should only be consumed after meals, as they tend to be tempting and filling. Particularly in the case of children, sweets satiate one's hunger without actually meeting the body's nutritional requirements so necessary for growth.
- Avoid alcohol, it causes dehydration and serious liver ailments.
- Just as exercise is important for general fitness, the muscles of the face also need a workout. Doing facial exercises can prevent the skin from sagging, especially around the jaw line. Exercises can include grimacing, opening the mouth wide and closing it again and raising and relaxing the eyebrows.
- Early to bed and early to rose makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise is a nursery rhyme worth acting upon.
- Condiments such as chilies, pepper, mustard, garlic, ginger, cloves, cinnamon, cardamom and the like should be used in limited amounts. Excessive use irritates the mucous membrane of the digestive tract, diminishing the desire for ordinary but nutritious food.
- Avoid caffeine and smoking.
- When we laugh we take in more oxygen, which temporarily boosts blood pressure and heart rate. This then causes the capillaries close to the skin's surface to dilate. These capillaries become filled with blood, which then feeds the skin with an increased supply of oxygen and nutrients, making it appear healthier.
- Do not use your nails, toothpicks or other pointed things to clean the teeth because it can wear away the gums resulting in complete exposure of teeth.
- Keep yourself cool and wear light colors.
- Everyone knows, whether they want to admit it or not, reducing calories will help you to lose weight. However, just as you should reduce the calorie intake, you need to know when to eat. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and the one meal that should not be missed. Lunch should be healthy but a less than what you ate for breakfast. As you approach dinner, eat healthy but light. Avoid after dinner snacks or eating before bed!
- Mind purification is equally essential. Develop good mental and physical habits to avoid diseases and live a longer happy life. Concentration and meditation help keep the mind stable.
- While studying keep sufficient space between your eyes and the study material. Do not read or write in a poorly lit place. Light should preferably come from the left side or the back. During long hours of study close your eyes in between for a few seconds to rest them; this helps to concentrate more while studying.
- Clean your ears after bath but never remove wax from ear unless it interferes with hearing due to hardening. Wax protects the ear from any insect attack because it is bitter in taste.
- While we sleep, the body concentrates on tissue repair. Many cells show increased production and a reduced breakdown of proteins.
Because proteins are the building blocks for cell growth and the repair of damage from factors such as ultraviolet rays, deep sleep may, indeed, be beauty sleep.
- Regular trimming of nails and beard is essential, as they are considered body wastes.
- Do not blow your nose violently especially when you are suffering from nasal cold. This forces the germs in the nose and throat to enter the middle ear and causes deafness.
- One should blink the eyes at least ten times in succession, while doing constant work with eyes, so that the eye muscles get rest.
