I am 23 years old, unmarried, and experiencing irregular periods, following unsafe intercourse. I have been conducting urine fests for pregnancy regularly, but they have come out negative. Even the gynecologist confirmed the same. I never had intercourse after that one episode. My normal cycle is 35-40 days. This has never happened before. I am very tense. Please help.

It would have been helpful if you had given me more details about your menstrual cycles. Provided I feel you need to have a complete hormonal evaluation done on the 5 th or 6 th day of your cycle and an ultrasonography of the pelvis to evaluate the uterus and ovaries. Sometimes stress and tension itself can cause the period to be delayed, so don't panic,

Also, you could do a blood test for pregnancy which is far more accurate than the urine test. Please see a hormone specialist if your period is further delayed.
