I am a 26 year old girl. I have very coarse and dark hair on my upper lip, chin and cheeks, which makes me feel so embarrassed that I have stopped going out. I want to have them removed permanently with laser treatment that's available in India . I must get detailed information in advance so that I can make a good decision. I have a few questions for you:

Can lasers permanently remove hair?
My complexion is wheatish and hair is black and coarse. Which type of laser treatment is best for me?
How much does it cost per sitting?
Can you please give me the name of some reliable and clinics where I can get proper treatment? Because I don't want to be cheated. Moreover I do not have the money to time to waste. I need your help very badly.

Answer
The presence of coarse hair on the upper lip, chin and cheeks is a common problem in women. It needs to be medically investigated to rule out an underlying cause (eg. Polycystic ovarian syndrome). Excess hair can be removed by various methods that include shaving, tweezing, waxing, chemical depilation and electrolysis. The later is a permanent process but is tedious and may cause scarring. Lasers have been recently introduced for hair removal and they do cause hair reduction. The treatment has to be repeated in 1 to 3 months. Various lasers are used to target the pigment in the hair follicle. The choice of these will depend on the color of the hair and the skin. For instance the n-Yag laser is best for brown Asian skins. The cost can vary from clinic to clinic. The best person to advise you, and get referrals from, is your local dermatologist.

I wouldn't you to come to India as the laser procedure requires several sessions to get the desired results and it wouldn't be cost effective for you to travel so far for the same.
