How Raynaud's Affect Healing After Foot Surgery?
Raynaud's disease mainly affect foot and hands and in some cases nose, lip or ear. To treat foot which is affected by Raynaud's disease, foot surgery is applied but it is used in very rare cases. In foot surgery nerves are blocked to control blood flow in foot and toes. Result is not for long life. It remains for only one or two years.
About Raynaud's Disease
Raynaud's disorder is poor blood supply to the body extremities like finger, toes and sometime ear, nose, tongue and lip. It mostly affects toes and fingers. It occurs because of cold weather and emotional stress. Raynaud's disorder is categorized as primary Raynaud's disorder and secondary Raynaud's phenomenon. In secondary Raynaud's phenomenon other disease are also associated with Raynaud's disorder.
Symptoms of Raynaud's disease are change in color at affected area. First affected toes becomes white and when oxygen level becomes very low it changes to blue again when affected area is recovering then again it change to red. Fingers or toes become numb and some irritation and pain occur during recovery.
Foot Surgery to Cure Raynaud's Disorder
- Various treatments are available to cure Raynaud's disorder. If Raynaud's disorder is more serious then surgery is required for curing disease.
- Nerve surgery which is also called as sympathectomy is used to treat toes and fingers. In this surgery sympathetic nerves are cut down by small opening to maintain blood flow.
- Surgery generally makes symptom free life for one or two years. After that number of Raynaud's attacks becomes same as they are prior to surgery.
- Foot Surgery reduces pain and swelling of your feet and toes.
