Link Between Raynaud's Disorder and Bleomycin
Sometimes Raynaud's phenomenon is occurred as a side effect of bleomycin but it happens in very rare cases. A man who is having testicular cancer and taking bleomycin containing treatment has more chances of having Raynaud's diseases. Raynaud's phenomenon doesn't depend on history of tumor, age and amount of bleomycin dose given. If you want to keep yourself away from Raynaud's disease then avoid taking bleomycin medicine.
What is Bleomycin?
Bleomycin is an anti-cancer chemotherapy drug mostly used in the treatment of cancer. Bleomycins destroy DNA material and because of this cancer cell are unable to repair. Along with cancer treatment bleomycin also used to cure Hodgkin’s disease and non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas. Bleomycin also gives some side effect such as lung problems, allergic reactions and Raynaud's disorder.
What is Raynaud's Disorder?
Raynaud's disorder is a condition in which discoloration occurs in the area like finger, toes, sometimes nose, ear and nipple. White, blue, red color pattern series occur because of low blood supply. Raynaud's disorder is classified as primary Raynaud's disease and secondary Raynaud's phenomenon. Main causes for Raynaud's disorder is cold temperature and stress. Sometimes Raynaud's disorder also occurs as adverse effect of bleomycin which is generally used to treat various types of cancer.
When Raynaud's occur after Bleomycin?
- If patient is treated for testicular tumors with vinblastine and bleomycin then there are high chances for Raynaud's phenomenon.
- Raynaud's Disorder may also remain continued after finishing of treatment.
- Many times Raynaud's phenomenon may occur after treatment of bleomycin.
